Do it yourself day trip.  Sydney to Three Sister’s.

Misertravel has toured all of Blue Mountain attractions and completed the Giant Stairway climb at Three Sister’s Echo Point.  Misertravel recommend doing this trip from Sydney on your own especially in these times of travel disruptions due to COVID-19.  It is the cheapest option and you don’t have to worry about cancellations.

Take the train from Sydney Central to Katoomba station.  Before taking the long train ride from Sydney to Katoomba/Blue Mountain and wasting a day, check the weather for Blue Mountain.  When it’s really foggy, it can be impossible to see anything around the Three Sisters Rock Formation.

Foggy Day in Katoomba.

Visit https://transportnsw.info/routes/details/intercity-trains/bmt/02BMT for latest operational info, maps and OPAL card info to make your trip to Katoomba.

The fare from Sydney to Katoomba Station cost approximately 6.20 AUS each way using your OPAL card on the Blue Mountain Line.

Once you arrive in Katoomba, if you there just to see the three sisters rock formations, you can walk, take the public bus, use the hop on hop off tour bus, or take a taxi. Misertravel recommends making your plans, however, purchasing your bus tour tickets when you arrive in Katoomba if needed.  The vendors are right outside the station.  Your OPAL card works for the public bus as well.

The Giant Stairway climb takes long and mistertravel don’t consider it easy.  However the views are worth the challenge.
