Vamos a Bogota.
Bogota is the capital of Colombia and largest city. It can feel overwhelming if you never been to a big city before. Misertravel has toured the majority of the city and surrounding towns. If you here on a business trip or vacation, choosing the right place to stay can be difficult since the city is really big. You need Colombian pesos. Misertravel prefers the ATM’s for best rates.
Where to stay?
Misertravel prefer to stay in the area called La Candelaria because of it’s proximity to the airport and major tourist attractions. Most hotels in Bogota and the rest of Colombia don’t include an iron and ironing board in your room unless it’s a major north American brand such as Hilton, Marriott, Sheraton… But stay wherever you like in Bogota. Keep in mind of safety at night and if you have some place important you need to be. You can be over an hour drive away even with moderate traffic since the city is really big.
What to see?
As of 2020, Bogota don’t offer hop on and off bus tours like Medellin and Cartagena, Colombia. You can find many private tour operators online. But you don’t need them. The attraction you can’t miss is Cerro Monserrate (click on the image above for more info). This mountain, church, museum has a lift/elevator/cable that takes you to the top for spectacular views of Bogota. It’s misertravel’s favorite in Bogota. After Monserrate, you can make your way to Museo del Oro and Museo Botero. Most hotel receptions offer tours, however, these tours can be completed on your own. Don’t forget to view the operational schedule of your tourist attraction online. Just save a screen shot of the location on your smart phone and show it to the taxi driver.
If you in Bogota for an extended period of time, road trips of the panoramic views of Bogota and surrounding towns is really misertravel favorite part of visiting Bogota.
